Two years later, in 1949, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognised volleyball as a non-Olympic sport. Finally, in 1957, during the 53rd IOC session, the votes were cast and volleyball was finally made an Olympic sport. Volleyball made its Olympic debut at the 1964 Games in Tokyo.

March 9, 2020. August 6, 2021. The Volleyball sport of the Tokyo 2021 Summer Olympics will be scheduled from 24th July to 8th August 2021 in Tokyo. This sport will be held with 4 events where 12 teams from men’s and 12 teams for women’s. There are two disciplines, one is indoor which will set at Ariake Arena in Ariake and another is the beach tournament at Shiokaze Park.
Volleyball has been part of the Summer Olympics program for both men and women consistently since 1964.. Brazil, United States, and the former Soviet Union are the only teams to win multiple gold medals at the men's tournament since its introduction.
Volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The volleyball tournaments at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo were played between 24 July and 8 August 2021. 24 volleyball teams and 48 beach volleyball teams participated in the tournament. The indoor volleyball competition took place at Ariake Arena in Ariake, and the beach volleyball tournament at Shiokaze Park, in the temporary Shiokaze Park Stadium.
Olympic Artistic Beach Volleyball Competition Format at Tokyo 2021. Total 24 teams participate in the sports program, where 16 pairs proceed further to the qualifiers round on a single knockout phase. Beach Volleyball competition is played on a sand court which is of size 16m x 8m.
